The GSM team is comprised of both staff and students from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Both staff and students are constantly learning and developing new skills and interests while being a part of the GSM, and their passions and creative ideas are what enable the GSM to keep pursuing new areas of focus, whilst continuing to strengthen our outputs and key objectives.
Each project will bring new objectives and different students to aid the outcomes.
Through sound based recording projects GSM travel to and work with international communities in their natural milieu in order to sample unique, hand built instruments of ethnic significance. In addition, natural ambient recordings are made to catalogue the sonic environment/s GSM work in. Through a process of post-production, virtual instruments and sound libraries are generated that can be integrated with music production software enabling composers internationally to use these rare sounds. Environmental recordings are captured at high resolution and are compliant with broadcast standards.
The dedication and outcomes of the Global Sound Movement team over the years have enabled us to move the project forward in multiple areas, while maintaining a strong focus on our key goals and objectives. The recognition of this work enabled GSM in beating five other well respected nominees for the Excellence and Innovation in the Arts award.
